Jerrold H. Mink, M.D., F.A.C.R., is a nationally recognized expert in musculoskeletal imaging and an innovator in applications of magnetic resonance to musculoskeletal disorders. The first of the five textbooks he has authored, “MRI of the Knee,” published in 1987, remains the benchmark work in the field in which virtually all fundamental principles and criteria for MR diagnoses of knee disorders were established.

Dr. Mink completed his undergraduate training at the University of Illinois where he was a Phi Beta Kappa. He graduated from the University of Illinois College of Medicine where he received his M.D. degree with honors; additionally, he was elected to AOA Honor Society. He interned at Harbor General Hospital in Torrance, California, and took his radiology residency at UCLA Center for the Health Sciences, Los Angeles, California. Dr. Mink was the Director of the Section on Bone Radiology at UCLA from 1975 to 1978. He subsequently assumed the positions of Director of Musculoskeletal Imaging and Director of Magnetic Resonance Imaging at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center Los Angeles. His skills as a teacher of medicine were manifest by his full-time appointment to the Department of Radiology at UCLA for four years, by his receiving the teacher of the year award both at UCLA and at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, and by his current appointment as an Associate Clinical Professor of Radiology at the University of California, San Francisco. He was elected to fellowship in the American College of Radiology in 1995.

Dr. Mink's academic accomplishments, most of which have been achieved while he has been in private practice, are well known to the radiologic, orthopedic and rheumatologic communities. Dr. Mink is the author of five major textbooks on musculoskeletal imaging; he has authored 21 textbook chapters and nearly 70 original articles in peer-reviewed journals. He currently is a reviewer for manuscripts submitted to Radiology, Clinical Orthopedics, and Arthroscopy. Dr. Mink has been invited to speak at major orthopedic meetings including the North America Arthroscopy Association, the American Academy of Sports Medicine, and the Western Orthopedic Association. Dr. Mink is a member of the American College of Radiology, the California Medical Association, California Radiological Society, the North American Spine Society, and the International Spinal Injection Society.
