Each referring physician request is previewed prior to the imaging procedure so the examination is tailored to yield maximum information in the shortest time possible. As each examination is conducted, one of the Mink Radiology physicians monitors its progress and ensures the examination is targeted to the specific clinical problem. Reports are typically typed and faxed within 3 hours of completion, although “STAT” cases are called to referring physicians at the conclusion of the examination. The office utilizes a web-based system for distributing images and reports so that referring physicians can access them immediately, as well as after office hours.
The entire practice is designed to maximize patient comfort; we have been patients ourselves and understand the fear and anxiety that may accompany various imaging tests. The staff at Mink Radiology insures that each patient undergoes their examination in a relaxed, comfortable setting, whether the patient is having an MR, a CT scan, an ultrasound examination or an epidural injection.
Jerrold Mink, M.D., had practiced Neuroskeletal radiology at both UCLA and Cedars Sinai since 1975 and had become disappointed with the impersonal “system.” He recognized the need for a different paradigm. He brought together three other physicians, Carol Andrews, M.D. (Neuroskeletal Imaging), Marshall Bein, M.D (Body Imaging including MRI, CT and Ultrasound) and Rachael Gordon, M.D. (Neuroradiology including head and neck radiology), all of whom shared the desire to practice medicine at the exceptional professional level to which they had become accustomed, and to interact with patients and referring physicians on a personal level.
Each of the physicians has a substantial academic background and has taught at the university level. They have published extensively in the medical literature and have lectured to medical professionals. One of the physicians has written five major texts in radiology (see biographies). Our physicians are committed to applying their academic skills to this unique, highly personalized and individualized practice of radiology.
